New Stretch & Strengthen class coming to Florence Park after Easter

A new Stretch & Strengthen chair workout is starting in Florence Park thanks to Oxford Community Impact Fund and FPCA.

The seated exercise class with resistance bands, run by Florence Park Community Centre in collaboration with Maddy Biddulph Personal Training, will last for eight weeks. The first class will be on Tuesday, April 14 from 1:30-2pm.

Who the class is for

This 30-minute low impact class is specifically designed for anyone who wants to work the whole body using body weight and resistance bands (supplied). It’s seated, so it’s ideal for anyone who struggles to stand for long periods of time or has limited mobility. It’s suitable for all fitness levels, and is a gentle workout specifically designed for older adults.

What to expect in a seated exercise class

Studies have shown that regular movement can help with weight loss, improve confidence, posture, balance and reduce the risk of falls. These workouts are designed for different levels of mobility.

I focus on:

  • Simple functional movements to improve mobility

  • Stretching exercises to improve range of movement

  • Rhythmic movements to music at a low to moderate intensity

  • Bodyweight resistance exercises to improve strength
